ABOUT UKRAINE
Ukraine is a large country in Eastern Europe known for its Orthodox churches, Black Sea coastline and forested mountains. Its capital, Kiev, features the gold-domed St. Sophia’s Cathedral, with 11th-century mosaics and frescoes. Overlooking the Dnieper River is the Kiev Pechersk Lavra monastery complex, a Christian pilgrimage site housing Scythian tomb relics and catacombs containing mummified Orthodox monks.
The complete duration of an MBBS program in Ukraine is 5.8 years. The students are not required to pass any entrance examination to get admission in a medical university in Ukraine. 1- O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University
The students at O.O. Bogomolets National Medical University are encouraged to participate in different social exercises, sports, courses, meetings and examinations held in colleges. Many international competitions are also conducted on a yearly basis, to provide optimum exposure to the students and help them grow holistically.
2- Odessa National Medical University
Around 1922, an independent medical institution as Odessa Medical Institution became a prominent institution in the southern region. Post independence, Odessa National Medical University was honoured with the 4th level of accreditation by the Ukrainian government.
3- Kyiv Medical University of UAFM, Kyiv
Kyiv Medical University of UAFM or Kiev Medical University of UAFM is a ukrainian higher learning institution. Established in 1992, the university has trained over 10,000 health personnel—mainly general practitioners, dentists and pharmacists. As of August 2014, about 1000 foreign students study at KMU.
4- Kharkiv National Medical University
At present, over 700 teachers work at the departments of the university. Staff capacity is 5 corresponding members NAMN Ukraine, 17 Honoured Scientist of Ukraine, 2 Honored high school Ukraine, 13 distinguished doctors of Ukraine, 8 winners of the State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Engineering, 28 academicians of the public academies of Ukraine, 28 employees – Member of International Medical Associations;. Since 1951, the University has been training medical personnel for countries of the Eastern Europe, China and Mongolia, and since 1961 it has been training students from other countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. At present, there are about 3400 foreign students in the Kharkiv National Medical University who study at the Preparatory Department, Medical, Nursing and Dental Faculties, undergo postgraduate and clinical post-graduate (residency) courses as well as professional probation at departments of the University in Dental, therapy, orthopedics, surgery, oncology, urology, psychiatry, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, as well as other medical specialties. The University has trained over 5000 specialists for 86 states of Europe, Asia, Latin America, Middle East countries. Among them there are 3 Doctors and 70 Candidates of Medical Science, about 200 clinical post-graduates (residents).
5- Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University
Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University is an institute of higher medical education in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine. The university is situated in Ivano city in the northwest of Ukraine and is a leading higher education establishment in the region, with a higher accreditation level.
6- Bukovinian State Medical University
is a modern multi structural educational institution of the fourth level (highest) of accreditation with ancient traditions – it was founded in October 1944. Medical University is located in the magnificent core of Chernivtsy-city. This beautiful city with inimitable architecture, museums, shady alleys in its parks and public gardens, summer cafes which can be found literally round every corner attracts tourists and students from across the country and abroad. They come to admire the past and the present, which blend so harmoniously together in our historical city established in 1408. City in quiet, inexpensive and very comfortable for living and every 5th person is a student from one of its numerous educational institutions. At present 50 Professors and more than 280 Assistant Professors (PhD) work effectively at 36 Departments of the Medical University. Among them there are Member of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, numerous Honored Science and Education Workers, Full Members of New York Academy of Medical Sciences. The researches of the University have attained considerable achievements in the fields of cardiology, traumatology and orthopedics, gastroenterology, pediatrics, kidney physiology and pathology.
